Amidst all the releases, events and activities that took place during Baby Tattooville ’09, the one event that really provided true insight into the technical and creative processes of the participating artists was the organized Reverse Studio Visits.Â For their visits, the artists (in this case Yoskay Yamamoto, Audrey Kawasaki, Greg “Craola” Simkins, Miss Mindy and Elizabeth McGrath) brought in-process works with them to BT ’09, spending an hour each painting and providing a behind the scenes peek at how they work in their studios.Â […]

German street artist case is set to open his show “The L.A. case” at the Carmichael Gallery this Thursday night. As one of the founding members of the Ma’Claim crew (which also included Akut of Herakut), renowned for their photorealistic graffiti, expect to see some of the most detailed and complex spraypainted pieces you have ever seen from case with this debut U.S. solo show. Just coming off the opening of his solo show in Paris, C215 is already getting ready to conquer another country. This time, he is collaborating with another stencil master, Logan Hicks (interviewed), for a show in Canada at Show & Tell Gallery.Â Opening November 6th, “Parallel Universe” will no doubt showcase the strengths of both artists, their complex stencils. Scheduled for November, he will be bringing a new body of work entitled “Innocence” to share with his fans at Urban Angel. A pretty major exhibition, “Pop Life,” is opening this week (October 1st) at the Tate Modern. The exhibition will take Andy Warhol’s famous quote “good business is the best art” as its slogan and re-examine how Warhol and legacy of “Pop Art” has influenced artists in the ways they harnass mass media to promote and create an image for themselves.
