High fashion and fine art was exhibited in a seamless mix as James Jean unveiled his Birds and Boys series at 3.1 Phillip Lim during Fashion’s Night Out in West Hollywood. Jean’s fantastically cool portraits of the famous and the beautiful of Los Angeles were hung throughout the store, occupying the same racks as Lim’s elegantly designed threads. Vernissage TV has released a remastered and remixed version of their most popular video – the much ballyhooed Deitch Art Parade from 2007 in New York. Ever since Deitch’s takeover at the MOCA, There has been speculation and even words from the Deitch himself that suggests Los Angeles may see something like this in the future. Brooklyn based artist Jean-Pierre Roy paints classically inspired landscapes fast-forwarded into a post-apocalyptical dystopian vision of the future. His beautifully composed oils have an epic, and almost cinematic quality. Take a look at the video above where JP talks about his work, and how he achieves the level of luminance to his work by starting off with a dark canvas and continually building the composition by adding elements of light. The details behind this video are a little bit murky, but what we like about it is that we get to see the elusive Poster Boy or one of the members of his “collective” in action. Although we don’t especially find these particular works that impressive, seeing that razor blade in action is pretty cool. We just got wind of a pretty cool project Os Gemeos has been working on – an animated feature based on their beloved imagery and characters. Although the twins are using more traditional methods, this brings to mind Blu and his graffiti-animations. We can’t wait to see what the brothers from Brazil will bring with their imagination in this new medium. New Banksy Videos

Along with the batch of photographs Banksy posted of his new work on his website the other day, he also released two videos. One is a dolphin ride for kids, but modified with netting and barrel with a crude oil leak with typical Banksy humor. Also, if you look carefully at the video after the jump, you may be seeing Mr. B. himself in disguise heckling Prince Charles.

The Lady Aiko, who was recently in Los Angeles for the opening of her joint show “Vivid Fiction” (covered), lived for a week at The Standard in Hollywood. While staying at the hotel, she created an installation there with her signature stencils and imagery. Luckily for us, someone was around to get some footage.
