Video: Fame Festival 2010 & Os Gemeos Photo-zine

In addition to AM’s coverage of the recently opened FAME Festival in Grottaglie, our friend at Babelgum, Laurence Billiet sent us this great video she took while in Italy for the festival. Video: Steve “ESPO” Powers – Love Letter to Syracuse

Building on the amazing success of his Love Letter project in Philadelphia (covered), Steve “ESPO” Powers and his sign-painting crew recently went upstate to the “Rust-Belt” city of Syracuse, New York, to transform the train bridges that divide the town’s poor Near West Side from the rest of downtown to display beautiful and inspirational messages of love from Syracuse to Syracuse. Supakitch & Koralie mural @ Varldskultur Museum, Gothenburg

AM friends and super French art duo Supakitch and Koralie were recently in Gothenburg, Sweden, for the set-up and opening of “Kimono Fusion,” an exhibition of Japanese fashion mixed with pop, street and graffiti culture at the Varldskultur (World Culture) Museum. In addition to having work in the show, the two spent a few days creating an amazing mural, documented in the video above. When ABOVE (interviewed) spotted a sweet opportunity on the streets recently in the form of what looked like a frame on a public wall, many different options ran though his head. Akino Kondoh on “the Shortlist” for Youtube Biennial @ Guggenheim Museum

AM friend Akino Kondoh has just been announced as one of the artists making “the Shortlist“ for the Guggenheim’s first annual Youtube Play: a Biennial of Creative Video. Wittled down from over 23,000 videos in over 91 countries, Akino will be one of 125 finalists to go before a panel of distinguished judges including Takashi Murakami, Marilyn Minter and Ryan McGinley. Video: Ryan McGinley – “Friends Forever”

The warm weather season is almost over.  We know what’s been on everyone’s mind: “what sort of magical goodness has Ryan McGinley been creating for us this summer?”  Well, we can now start answering that question.  The talented artist went to the Pitchfork Music Festival and documented his two favorite bands on camera.  Smith Westerns and Girls are the subjects of this intimate film.  It’s a wonderful experience with fantastic music, fun-loving youngsters, and beautiful scenes.
