Videos: JR – “Women Are Heroes” @ Nuart 2010

As we mentioned last month, this year’s Nuart festival will be fast upon us. Along with a fantastic lineup including Vhils, Blu, ROA, Dolk, Ericailcane, Evol, Alexandros Vasmoulakis, Sten & Lex, M-City, and Dotmasters, it has now been announced that JR will be showing his “Women Are Heroes” film in conjuntion with the festival. There will be three screenings at Stavanger’s main cinema SF Kino, scheduled on Sept 15-17 at the moment. Discuss JR here.

You may remember when we first passed along the news that KAWS was collaborating with Dos Equis in creating a specially packaged version of their popular beer. Now, the Mexican company, whose name translates to “two x’s” has released a promotional video of the “creative process” from the street turned contemporary artist whose signature imagery also includes “two x’s”. Our friends over at VNA are getting ready to release the newest issue of their publication and have put together a nice promotional video. Included is some footage from Roa at work, for which we tagged along if you remember, and who is also the cover artist for Issue 12. Roa will also be making 100 screenprinted covers for a limited edition version for this issue and the release party will be at Pure Evil Gallery on August 12th. More details after the jump…

Video: Anish Kapoor @ Guggenheim (Bilbao)

Renowned sculptor Anish Kapoor is currently showing at the Guggenheim in Bilbao, the first large-scale survey of the artist’s work to be seen in Spain. In a fascinating series of videos, Kapoor gives a tour of each of the major pieces in the exhibition. Preview: Dalek – “Chaos On The Edge Of Reason” @ Hurley )( SPACE

A pretty interesting event is taking place this Wednesday night at the Hurley Space (7-10pm at 1945 Placentia Ave., Costa Mesa, CA) down in Orange County. James Marshall (Dalek) (interviewed) will be exhibiting his 37-foot continuous wall mural, “Chaos on the Edge of Reason”, with the kicker being that pieces of the painting will be cut out and framed on demand for attendees to take home at $200 per square feet (2×2, 3×3 and 4×4 feet). Video: JR x Patrice – Ain’t Got No (I Got Life)

German/Sierra Leonean reggae singer Patrice recently released a music video featuring an iconic speaker sculpture by JR (examples here and here). Utilzing some stop motion animation, “Ain’t Got No (I Got Life)”, a cover of a song by Nina Simone, features the wheatpasted set of speakers in different configurations throughout the video. Look for more from the French street photographer later this year in London, Shanghai, and Miami but for now, enjoy this video. Discuss JR here.

Video: KAWS @ Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

If you remember, AM recently brought you a first look at the KAWS museum show at The Aldrich as well as a peek at the upcoming Pinnochio and Jiminy Cricket figures. Apparently, High Snobiety also made the trek out to Connecticut and put together a nice video capturing footage of the paintings, installations, drawings, sculptural work, and art products that were part of the massive retrospective.
