Jay Z Performs With Jeff Koons Balloon Dog @ V Festival

A couple nights ago, Jay Z took to the stage at Virgin V Festival in Chelmsford with a 40 foot inflated Jeff Koons balloon dogg with the blessing of the artist. The rapper is a self-proclaimed admirer of the British sculptor and even included a line – “Oh what a feeling, fuck it I want a billion / Jeff Koons balloons, I just wanna blow up” on his 2013 song Picasso Baby. Releases: James Jean – “Hunting Party II” Print

Coming up next week (August 29th), James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new time limited edition entitled Hunting Party II. The print depicts all the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, comes sized at 21-15/16″ tall × 29-1/2″ wide (image size: 18-3/4″ tall × 27-5/16″ wide), and cost $200. It will only be available for 24 hours starting at 8:00 AM PDT on Monday, August 28th and ending at 7:59 AM on Tuesday, August 29th here for those interested. Discuss James Jean here.

Upcoming: Jose Parla – “Mirrors” @ Brand New Gallery (Milan)

Coming up on September 21st, Jose Parla will be opening a solo show in Milan at Brand New Gallery that reflects on memories from his travels in Italy. Entitled Mirrors, the new work incorporates parts of posters ripped from off the walls of Milan, Rome, Napoli, Matera, Bari, Lecce and Bologna. This collage technique will add further depth and texture to the Brooklyn-based artist’s signature urban calligraphy, as well as re-contextualizes the found materials. Discuss Jose Parla here.

Streets: Bezt (Poland)

After many international projects and murals, Bezt from Etam Cru recently got a chance to paint a mural in his homeland. The result is this peaceful yet intriguing piece titled Blue Monday in Bielsko Biała, in the south of Poland. Choosing a very limited color palette, mostly consisting of different shades of blues and purples, the Polish artist painted this four story tall image of a woman carrying a lush flower pot for the “oBBraz miasta # 4” project organized by the Bielska Gallery Foundation and Bielsko BWA Gallery.
