Streets: Swoon

It looks like Swoon (Interviewed) recently visited Philadelphia and gifted the city of brotherly love with some of her street pieces. In town for Philagrafika 2010, the city’s international festival celebrating print in contemporary art, Swoon’s wheatpastes blended in nicely with the snowy landscape. TrustoCorp, who we last saw in Los Angeles and Miami, has recently hit up New York City with a fresh batch of newly modified street signs. Now implementing government-grade reflective vinyl in all their work, TrustoCorp’s latest campaign blends in almost seamlessly with the urban landscape, yet still maintains enough of a presence to be noticed by the NY Post. Word on the street is that TrustoCorp will be heading to San Francisco next, stay tuned!

Last Saturday evening marked the opening of Rob Sato’s solo show, “Junk History”, in San Francisco at Giant Robot. This was his second solo show, following his first one at Giant Robot’s Los Angeles location last year. Featured in the show were largest pieces he had ever worked on, which still required close inspection to observe every minor detail packed into the painting. On the opposite side of the spectrum were tiny works painted on slide film that were still in his signature watercolor style. […]

One the most well-known and celebrated female street artists, Miss Van, recently opened her show “She-Wolves” (previewed) at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles. This new body of work featured the French artist’s signature “poupes” dressed up in animal attire although she seems to have taken it a step further with some of the characters possessing some very real mammary glands, demonstrated vividly in the amazing painting seen above (to the right).
