Tomorrow, Andrew Hem’s joint show (teased) with Stella Im Hultberg opens at Roq La Rue gallery in Seattle. The exhibition of Takashi Murakami’s latest work (teased) at the Gagosian’s smaller London gallery on Davies Street opened last night to an enthusiastic crowd. Arrested Motion was on hand to check out the latest from this prolific artist and leader of the Superflat movement. It turned out to be a small show that will accompany the major exhibition at Bilbao’s Guggenheim. Benefit: Street Art Awards x SHP Auction

Some interesting charity auctions are ending soon benefiting SHP (Single Homeless Project), a London-based charity working with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. If you recall, various street/urban artists donated some originals painted on records during the Street Art Awards last year, including Matt Small (above), Know Hope, SPQR, Grafter, Holly Thoburn, Rene Gagnon, Guy Denning, Case, and Dale Grimshaw.Â More images after the jump.

China’s Contemporary Art Crisis

As AM reported in past months (here), the ailing financial situation has forced many notable galleries in the US and EU to close shop. While this disappointing trend in the western art markets concern many, it pales in comparison to the crisis that is currently plaguing China’s contemporary art market. In Beijing’s famed Dashanzi art quarter alone, over 50 galleries have gone out of business. Amy Crehore opens her solo exhibition “Dreamgirls & Ukes” at Thinkspace this Friday, 2/13 @ 7pm. Anthony Lister x Paris Hilton

We are sure you all remember this video from a while back where Paris Hilton endorses Anthony Lister’s (interviewed) work. The Australian artist, who opened a show last week, apparently had time to take that encounter and paint Hilton as a superhero. Turns out she loves it… Perhaps it will end up on her walls somehow?
