Preview/Interviews: Anthony Lister @ Fifty24SF

“Magic Tricks” is the latest solo exhibition from Australian-born painter and street artist Anthony Lister. His two-person show withÂ Craola (previewed/interviewed) opens February 5th at Fifty24SF. Lister’s latest body of work veers away from his abstracted figural imagery and focuses on paintings derived from images found in his recent book, “Tales of White Trash Prophecy.” Read about this and more in the rest of our interview, after the jump.

Preview: Chris Stain @ Carmichael Gallery

Baltimore street artist Chris Stain makes his West coast solo exhibition debut with, “Up On The Roof Countin’ Pigeons,” opening this Thursday, February 5th @ 7pm at the Carmichael Gallery. His work focuses on scenes taken from the life of everyday inner-city Americans, capturing the people, the neighborhoods they live in, and their day-to-day struggles. Shepard Fairey must be a Cylon… With temperatures in Boston as low as 8 degrees, there is no way he’s spent the last week hitting the streets of Boston. AM was on hand at Mark Ryden’s signing for his latest book “The Tree Show” at the MOCA store in Los Angeles. Hundreds of fans lined up for the opportunity to meet Ryden before he crosses the ocean for his upcoming show in Japan (teased). Mark Dean Veca, who we just interviewed a couple days ago, opened up his show last night at the UAG gallery.Â We had only seen the nice in-progress setup previously, but the finished installation looks even more amazing.Â The show runs till March 15th, so stop by for a look if you have a chance.Â As mentioned before, he will also doing an “artist talk” on February 26th if you are interested in attending.Â We gathered some images for you to peruse after the jump.
