Teaser: Gary Baseman @ Urbanix (Israel)

Internationally known artist, Gary Baseman, will be opening a show in Israel at Urbanix on January 8th entitled “The Sacrificing of Cake.” Judging from the show description, this body of work will be intriguing as it is rooted in some personal experiences.  Also, we will be interested to see the appearance of the “dragons” as we don’t believe he has used that imagery before. “He presents in his works the image of the dragon “Uga” (meaning “cake” in Hebrew), slaughtered again and again by feminine […]

David Choe – Choegal Origins

He included a painting that Choegal was apparently based on as well as progress shots of the sculpt, various faces, etc…  Check out the photo set after the jump.

Allison Sommers Sculptures

It’s always tricky when artists attempt to convert their work from 2D to 3D.  It needs to be done in such a way that the sculpture is able to capture the essence of their work and make it instantly recognizable.  Some artists will hire others to bring their vision and ideas to fruition, perhaps because sculpting is not their forte or they rather use their time to concentrate on their primary medium such as painting – for example – Jeremy Fish (recently), Scott Musgrove, or […]
