Tomorrow night (April 20th) in Brooklyn, Lydia Fong, Todd James, Steve Powers, and Alicia McCarthy will be putting on a show at Muddguts. For those in the know, as well as from the artwork used to promote the exhibition, it looks like Fong (aka Barry McGee) will be joining his Street Market buddies James and Powers and has invited his Mission School art movement colleague McCarthy to the party as well. Releases: James Jean – “Hunting Party II” Print

Coming up next week (August 29th), James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new time limited edition entitled Hunting Party II. The print depicts all the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, comes sized at 21-15/16″ tall × 29-1/2″ wide (image size: 18-3/4″ tall × 27-5/16″ wide), and cost $200. It will only be available for 24 hours starting at 8:00 AM PDT on Monday, August 28th and ending at 7:59 AM on Tuesday, August 29th here for those interested. Discuss James Jean here.

Currently at Charlie James Gallery in Los Angeles, Patrick Martinez has a new versatile body of work on display entitled All Season Portfolio. All Season Portfolio, a new solo show from Patrick Martinez, is set to open on January 14th at Charlie James Gallery in Los Angeles. The body of work he has prepared includes his signature hip hop inspired neon signage, his newer series of work satirizing Pee Chee Portfolios of our youth by replacing the athletes with victims and imagery of police brutality, and new mixed media stucco paintings. Showing: Jamian Juliano-Villani – “The World’s Greatest Planet on Earth” @ Studio Voltaire

Lat month, Studio Voltaire in London opened an exhibition from Jamian Juliano-Villani entitled The World’s Greatest Planet on Earth. For her first solo outside the United States at a public institution, the New York-based artist prepared a series of her painted collages featuring appropriated images, personal photographs, and reproductions of existing artworks, reinterpreted into surreal amalgamations with a touch of dark humor. Along with these paintings, some never before exhibited sculptural installations rounded out the show that will be on view until December 11th. Photos via Studio Voltaire. James Jean – “Psychic Temple” Library Project (Part II)

After introducing you last month to the Psychic Temple project from James Jean (interviewed), we now have an update with some on site photos for you to enjoy. A collaboration between the nomadic Jean and architect Brandon Shigeta, the intriguing undertaking is commissioned by interTrend in Long Beach for their new library.
