StolenSpace Gallery is opening the new season in London with two concurrent solo shows from Australian artists based in Berlin – Reka (seen above) with a body of work entitled Trip The Light and paintings from Two One’s collectively named Hunted Hunter’s Head. Reka’s fresh paintings are inspired by his mother, who was a ballerina. His brushstrokes reflect the graceful movements of a female dancer though a monochromatic palette. On September 27th, Tessar Lo (featured) will once again (see 2011, 2012) open a solo at Jaski Art Gallery in Amsterdam. The Indonesian-born and Toronto-raised painter will be bringing a new set of paintings and drawings collectively entitled Devices And The Virtues, all rendered in a colorful palette and radiating raw innocence. Last night, the Honor Fraser Gallery hosted the highly anticipated return (covered) of Brian Donnelly (aka KAWS) to Los Angeles with a show entitled Man’s Best Friend. As implied by the title, Snoopy, along with a cast of familiar characters from Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts series were the focus of the Brooklyn-based artist’s imagery. On the 4th of September, Die Kunstagentin gallery introduced Maya Hayuk’s latest body of work titled Alles Klar, as well as a large mural at their entrance. The new works further explore her signature technique of woven brush strokes. With her straight, strict lines of thick paint, the NYC-based artist creates trippy colorful patterns which seem to be getting more elaborate. UK-based artist Phlegm has just finished an outdoor installation (which will be on display until September 28) at the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden. New York-based french artist WK Interact recently collaborated on a project with Major League Baseball’s New York Mets and Citibank. Utilizing his signature motion motif, WK takes the star players from the team and reinterprets their competitiveness for their fans in the Big Apple. After opening and closing a comprehensive retrospective (covered) at the MOCA Taipei, Gary Baseman (interviewed) moved on to revealing his latest project. At the recent Fashion Week New York, Coach unveiled their new Spring 2015 RTW collection which featured the Los Angeles-based artist’s imagery. The line included his signature creatures emblazoned on bags, used on prints and repeating patterns, and even knitted into sweaters.
