After pasting up his newest piece at the prominent Bowery & Houston location in New York, JR continued his Inside Out project and his focus on the Dakota Native Americans with an even larger mural at what looks like another popular wall. Nice touch also leaving the graf and Shepard Fairey piece untouched on the wall. More photos after the jump as the French street photographer hit up other locations in the NYC.

As teased earlier, TED prize winning photographer JR recently hit up the legendary wall located on the corner of Houston & Bowery in New York. Following a string of prominent artists such as Kenny Scharf, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos & Keith Haring to grace the iconic location, JR puts his own spin as he furthers his Inside Out project with this latest wall. Openings: FriendsWithYou – “Rainbow City” @ High Line (New York)

Wednesday night saw the transport of FriendsWithYou’s massive installation Rainbow City (first seen in Miami) to New York to celebrate the opening of Section 2 of the High Line. The air-filled structures, some up to 40 feet high, from Sam and Tury, who make up the Miami based collective are sculptural representations of their colorful abstractions, 0f which some smaller versions were seen at The Hole last night (more on that later). Next Thursday, June 9th, at The Hole in New York, Miami based art collective FriendsWithYou will be introducing a new body of work simply titled with a smiley face emoticon. The name of the show is in line with their eternally cheerful & uplifting persona, and will feature what sounds like an immersive installation of their geometric abstractions. San Francisco, last weekend, hosted a slew of fine art fairs around the city. One noteworthy fair was the inaugural edition of ArtPadSF (held at the legendary Phoenix Hotel in the Tenderloin), which focused mainly on Bay Area galleries that feature contemporary and emerging art.
