Openings: Mr Freeze / ‘Lost & Found’ (Toulouse)

For the third year running (see 2014), the Mister Freeze exhibition opened recently and gathered over thirty national and international graffiti and street artists in Toulouse, France. Last month, as part of the Murals In the Market festival, Luke Chueh (interviewed) painted a rare public arts mural in Detroit’s Eastern Market. The Los Angeles-based painter decided to go with an image inspired by his thoughts of the Motor City as being the home of house music and DJ culture as we know it. Opening on October 10th at the Japanese American National Museum is Giant Robot Biennale 4, a group exhibition featuring works from artists curated by Eric Nakamura (interviewed), the man behind the Giant Robot brand. The fourth iteration (see 2009, 2012) of the show looks to be the most ambitious yet featuring artists like James Jean, Jim Lee, Kim Jung Gi, Katsuya Terada, Edwin Ushiro, and Yumi Sakagawa, among others. Releaese: Dalek – “Untitled 101” Print

James Marshall aka Dalek (interviewed) recently released a 38 color handpulled silkscreen through Dynamo Editions. Untitled 101 comes with a paper size of 26 inches by 26 inches and an image size of 24 1/2 inches x 24 1/2 inches and was produced in an edition size of 50. This newest offering from the Riverside-based artist featuring the nocturnal bird of prey is part of the Murals In The Market Featured Artist Print Series, corresponding with the Murals In the Market festival opening later this week.
