Upcoming: Futura x Hennessy – VS Cognac Bottle

Remember earlier this year when AM visited Paris to catch Futura 2000 launch his solo exhibition? Well, that wasn’t the end of his affiliation with the country known for some of the best wines and brandies in the world as Hennessy will continue their artist collaboration (see their KAWS bottle) with the graffiti legend. We’ll have a closer look at this amazing collaboration very soon… Photo thanks to Tabathammm. Discuss Futura here.

Releases: Gregory Euclide – “Laid Down & Wiped Away” Print Set

The David B. Smith Gallery and artist Gregory Euclide recently released a series of prints from his Laid Down & Wiped Away project. Euclide teaches high school in Minnesota and during his twenty-five minute lunch periods began creating temporary paintings within that short allotted time frame as a demonstration to his students and an aesthetic challenge. The works have now been reproduced in a special edition of ten portfolios chronicling Euclide’s experiments on his classroom whiteboard with each including eight pigment prints measuring 16 x 20 […]

Openings: Andy Kehoe – “Into The Depths” @ Thinkspace

Last weekend, the Andy Kehoe unveiled a new selection of work featuring a new technique of layering his paintings with resin (and even some local flora). Despite the use of a new medium, Into The Depths at Thinkspace Gallery still highlights the reasons why the Pittsburgh-based painter is popular with his fans – autumnal imagery and colors, mysterious characters, and imaginative backgrounds. This added three-dimensional element just elevates the work to the next level and must be seen in person to be fully appreciated. Photo credit: ©Carlos Gonzalez. Discuss this […]

Streets: Aiko Mural on Bowery & Houston (Part I)

It’s that time of the year again for New York’s iconic Bowery & Houston wall. The coveted street art mural spot has a changing of the guards yet again and this time, Aiko Nakagawa takes the helm with her seductive urban styling. After notable names such as RETNA, Kenny Scharf, Barry McGee, Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, JR, Keith Haring and Faile leaving their mark in the past, Lady Aiko becomes the first woman to create art at the legendary corner. AM stopped by the past two days to catch the […]

Streets: CYRCLE. – “Beautiful Disaster” (Los Angeles)

Recently, we saw CYRCLE. at our City Of Fire exhibition (covered) where they showed an interactive piece that had the crowd mesmerized by its spinning panels. Now, they are back on the streets and before last week’s holiday hit, they painted a mural named Beautiful Disaster, which is a continuation of their Cut It Out series which began last year with a wall featuring a flower gun. This latest mural at West Hollywood’s The Roxy was created in conjunction with with Poster Child Prints, who will be releasing their first […]

Openings: “Tiny Trifecta” @ Cotton Candy Machine

This past weekend, New York’s Cotton Candy Machine hosted their second annual “tiny” art showcase entitled Tiny Trifecta. As we mentioned in our preview, artists this year upped the ante as each created three pieces of original artwork for fans who may not have the opportunity to purchase their larger scale works. All you needed was a $100 and the patience to queue up for a chance at your favorite artwork. Tara McPherson curated strong and diverse lineup which included names such as James Jean, Audrey […]

Openings: Colin Christian – “Hello, Pretty Pretty” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Over the weekend, alongside new work from RISK, the talented Colin Christian (interviewed) put a selection of his sculptural creations on display at the Corey Helford Gallery. Much like his showing in Texas earlier in the year (covered), the new body of work collectively entitled Hello, Pretty Pretty featured a mix of free standing figures and wall mounted faces, all produced in Christian’s signature cyber-erotic aesthetic. The showing runs through August 4th for those interested in seeing them in-person. Photo credit: Carlos Gonzalez for Arrested Motion. Discuss this show here. Discuss Colin Christian here.

Openings: RISK – “Old Habits Die Hard” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Over the weekend, the Corey Helford Gallery unveiled a new body of work from the LA-based graffiti artist RISK. The Culver City showspace had only recently curated a group exhibition including RISK that is currently showing in the UK (covered) and Old Habits Die Hard builds on the work from that show with further explorations into neon creations and sculptural pieces. Also present were some paintings produced over a backdrop of license plates as seen behind the artist above. Photo credit: Carlos Gonzalez for Arrested Motion. Damien Hirst Donates Artwork To Burger King

Not content to just have his work displayed in an upmarket Shoreditch eatery (Tramshed Restaurant), British artist Damien Hirst has gone to the other end of the market and donated a piece of art to the Burger King in Leicester Square. The newly remodeled “Flameship” restaurant is located in the heart of London’s biggest tourist district which means visitors in town for the upcoming Olympics will come up close and personal with the spin painting. Not too close though – as the piece entitled Beautiful Psychedelic Gherkin […]
