Streets: Lewy Bombs the Brooklyn Bridge

Earlier this week, Lewy added his name to the short list of legends who have hit up the Brooklyn Bridge with their graf skills. The tags were buffed over quickly but not before photos were taken of the first work on the spot in over a decade. The fill-ins were put up in the cover of darkness 119 feet up and were repeated three times by the daring and prolific artist. Via 12OzProphet.

Openings: Andrew Schoultz – “Ex Uno Plura” @ Eric Firestone Gallery

Over this past weekend, San Francisco-based artist Andrew Schoultz visited the Hamptons at Eric Firestone Gallery to unveil a new body of work consisting of his remixed flags. Entitled Exo Uno Plura, the show explores the kinetic compositions referencing the political turmoil in the nation. Further pushing his skills, Andrew told us he worked and weathered the flags to age them. Preview: London Pleasure Gardens

Starting tomorrow, June 30th, the London Pleasure Gardens will open their doors to the public in the heart of Olympic East London. Releases: Ron English – “American Depress” @ Kidrobot

Ron English (featured) recently created a new vinyl sculpture with toy maker Kidrobot for their ultra limited Kidrobot Black line. Entitled American Depress, the 12-inch figure depicts Ron’s version of a bloated Mickey Mouse ensnared in a Amex “Black Card” credit trap. Streets: Tom Fruin – “Watertower” (New York)

We recently came across this stunning new installation from Tom Fruin in New York entitled Watertower. The NY-based artist’s sculptural creation, which is visible from Lower Manhattan, FDR Drive, and the Manhattan & Brooklyn Bridges, is built from salvaged plexiglass and steel throughout NYC sourced from a wide range of materials including old sign shops to closed-down artist studios and various warehouses. Streets: Shepard Fairey – “Rise Above Rebel Woman” (Paris)

Shepard Fairey (featured) and the OBEY crew were recently in Paris for a new mural put together by the Mairie of 13th district, Mehdi from Galerie Itinerrance and Butterfly. The piece was part of a unfunded regeneration project of the area, called Street Art 13, which given has huge walls to many international artists. Streets: Spencer Tunick (Munich Opera Festival)

American photographer Spencer Tunick, known for organizing large-scale public nude photoshoots, has struck again – this time in Germany. The human installation created from 1,700 individuals marked the start of Munich’s 2012 opera season by gathering in formations recalling scenes from Richard Wagner’s opera Der Ring Des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung).
