In case you missed the last batch of James Jean x OVM scarves, which sold out earlier this Spring, there may be hope for you yet. Tomorrow, the next design Escape will go on sale on the OVM site. You may remember the original artwork from his Art HK booth with Martha Otero back in May. As with the previous release, this hand-rolled silk scarf is very limited with only 75 produced. As a regular collaborator with Faile (see Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Deluxx Fluxx Arcade), Brooklyn-based Bast hasn’t had many solo projects recently. All that will change next month as he will be unveiling a new solo exhibition in the UK at The Outsiders in Newcastle. The new body of work is entitled Scenario Del Rio and with the showcard sporting an intriguing image, we’ll be looking forward to seeing what he has planned for his fans. Discuss Bast here.

It’s time to summarize the remaining murals for the T&J Art Walk now after bringing you the walls from Faile, Shepard Fairey, D*Face, and Logan Hicks previously. The other artists involved include The London Police, who threw up the sick piece above, as well as Will Barras, Fenx, Martin Whatson, and Gallo. Streets: TrustoCorp (LA) Part 1

Judging from the pictures TrustoCorp sent us, the plan was to take their reality show street satires bi-coastal. The only difference was in New York, they hit up pay phone ads (covered) and in Los Angeles, they used bus bench interventions. Releases: Anish Kapoor x illy Art Collection

Finally after years of hoping and wanting, we got an Anish Kapoor dish… coffee cup and dish that is. Italian Coffee maker illy has commissioned the famous Indian artist to design this year’s artist cup for their prestigious Art Collection which has seen collaborations with some of art’s most celebrated artists such as Jeff Koons, Louise Bourgeois and Robert Rauschenberg. Openings: INSA – “Gloss” @ Above Second (Hong Kong)

Last week, the UK-based INSA brought his erotic and distinctive works to the Above Second Gallery in Hong Kong. Included in the exhibition was a large mural featuring feet and heels, a regular motif in his work. Additionally, one wall displayed a photo set of his Girl On Bike series (which he added to while in town). Also available was an exclusive glow-in-the-dark limited edition for those interested. Last week, AM was invited over to visit Jeff Soto (interviewed) in his new studio in Riverside. The multi-purpose complex not only housed his workspace and office but also a tattoo parlor, a clothing line, as well as the office of childhood friend Maxx242. Artists, what would you give to paint on a piece of history? That’s exactly what happened recently in Germany as artists like Nunca, Miss Van, and McBess were asked to paint on remnants of the Berlin Wall like Chor Boogie did last year for the Stroke.03 Art Fair. This past weekend, Lebasse Projects hosted a traveling exhibition (see SF coverage) which featured collaborations by artists Risk and Nathan Ota. Titled That Was Then, This Is Now, the show brought together the two long time friends for an exhibit which showcased a superb collection of artwork diplaying each artist’s strengths and respective styles. While Risk’s work often focused on graffiti-type iconography and lettering, Ota rendered the rest of the paintings with finely detailed settings and characters that at times felt surreal and strange. Besides the amazing boat mural that Phlegm painted for the Walk & Talk Festival in Azores, Portugal, there were also some other familiar names who got up some quality work. Vhils did his home country proud with some chiseled local portraiture, Interesni Kazki continued to impress (see Ibiza) with another large surreal mural, and Escif threw up a cryptic wall with a dinosaur and block lettering.
