As the opening of the Space//Form group exhibition draws ever nearer, and following on from our studio view, AM brings you a glimpse of some of the work in this huge show. One of the most interesting things about curating a group exhibition of over 100 artists is getting to see behind the scenes as the artists develop their work for the show (Chloe Early seen above). Following our recently curated group exhibitions in Hong Kong; East West Connect and Los Angeles; City of Fire, AM’s UK correspondent Sven Davis has branched out with his own curatorial endeavour Space//Form. The group exhibition brings together over 100 young contemporary artists, and opens 6th September at Portland’s Breeze Block Gallery. Streets: World Roundup (July 23 – July 29)

This week’s roundup sees the return of David Ellis to the streets after the massive mural painted in Brooklyn last month. This latest tree piece was commissioned by Converse as part of they Wall to Wall campaign and features Ellis’ sinuous pattern (photo by Justin Carlson and courtesy of Joshua Liner Gallery). Openings: “Gin & Juice” @ Ivory & Black

Last week, Ivory & Black in London hosted their first group exhibition featuring painters Andrew Schoultz, Cleon Peterson, James Jean, Richard Colman and Ryan Travis Christian. Entitled Gin & Juice, the artists chosen all have been influenced by various Californian subcultures which in turn has informed their work and imagery. Showgoers were also greeted by James Jean (featured) who made the trip over and took time to work in a wall installation. Discuss this show here.

Coming up on June 15th, the Ivory & Black Soho will be presenting their first group exhibition featuring artists Andrew Schoultz, Cleon Peterson, James Jean, Richard Colman and Ryan Travis Christian. Entitled Gin & Juice, the show features painters who hae been influenced by the Californian subcultures they hail from with diverse imagery ranging from the humorous, the macabre, the playful, the violent, to the idealistic.
