Elian Chali recently took part in the Cityleaks / TRANSURBAN festival in Cologne, Germany, curated by Georg Barrinhaus. For this event, he created one of his vibrant, abstract, and minimalist public interventions titled Against Overlapping. Working on a residential building in Müllheim, the Argentinian artist took the strong cultural characteristics of neighborhood and created a piece that searches for harmony. On October 21st, Mark Jenkins (interviewed) will be opening a show at Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne, Germany, his third solo with the gallery. Knock Knock will feature more of the American artist’s signature witty sculptures utilizing the human form, with the latest body of work a play on the classic joke. With these freestanding pieces, mimicking his installations on the streets, as well as the more indoor based sculptural canvas flats, Jenkins’ hopes to “metaphorically knock on the viewer’s mind, calling norms into question again.” Discuss Mark Jenkins here.

As we previously reported, since May 26th, Die Kunstagentin gallery in Cologne, Germany has been hosting a solo by Addam Yekutieli aka Know Hope. For this showcase, the Tel-Aviv-based artist created an all new body of work strongly influenced by the refugee crisis. With his most recent solo show titled Revok, Jason Williams aka REVOK introduced his latest concepts and works at Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne, Germany. Opened on August 14th, the show will stay on view until September 27th. The title of the shows refers to the concept of identity that he has been exploring since 1990, when he adopted the name as his alias. On August 14th, Ruttkowski;68 in Cologne, Germany will be welcoming back Jason William aka REVOK for another solo. The eponymously named exhibition continues the line of work seen in his Los Angeles show earlier this year (covered), and will follow the graffiti artist as he “goes beyond the self to examine perceptions of consciousness and unconsciousness.” This continues to be expressed in the form of increasingly complex assemblages formed from precisely cut pieces of wood that draw their influences from op-art, traditional folk pattern, and optical illusion elements.
