Earlier this week, the West 24th Street location of the Gagosian Gallery in New York opened a solo show from Jonas Wood featuring new paintings and works on paper. The fresh selection of work continues his use of art references, plants, everyday objects, and people in architectural interiors and exteriors, as well as a series of his depictions of pots and ceramic vessels. Each painting in the exhibition is accompanied by a corresponding small-scale work on paper with all 30 works featured in a fully illustrated catalogue. Besides an upcoming show in New York (covered), fans of Jose Parla will also be interested to know that he recently collaborated with bal on a collection. Tokyo: Chance Operation features a series of sweaters, hoodies, t-shirts, and bags accented by the New York-based artist’s unique imagery. Parla’s richly textured references to urban walls as well as graffiti inspired calligraphic elements are integrated throughout the line, fitting nicely with the brand’s aesthetic. Oli Epp’s debut solo in the U.S. is currently showing at the Richard Heller Gallery in Los Angeles. Entitled Contactless, the new body of work from the British artist feature his amoeba-like characters and explore ideas of human relationships, technology and consumer culture. Case Studyo recently unveiled a collaboration they worked on with Japanese artist Keiichi Tanaami entitled GOLDFISH GIRL. The resulting stool looks like it comes straight out of one of the renowned artist’s psychedelic paintings and features much of what makes Tanaami’s work so distinctive – a garish palette, surreal touches like the exposed frontal lobe, and a bold graphic style. JR Transforms Louvre Pyramid Creating Optical Illusion

Returning to the Louvre almost three years after his debut groundbreaking installation (covered), JR (interviewed) has created another large scale optical illusion centered on the museum’s iconic glass pyramid designed by I.M. Pei and completed in 1989. Devised in honor of the structure’s 30th anniversary, the piece titled The Secret of the Great Pyramid required the help of 400 volunteers pasting 2000 strips of paper in the main courtyard.
