AM recently attended the much anticipated opening for Israel Lund at Lower East Side’s David Lewis Gallery. The eponymously named solo includes both his signature silkscreened canvas paintings along with a new series of sculptures which center around one of his core tools – the silkscreen. Upcoming: Robert Montgomery – “Above The Streets” @ Art Share L.A.

This weekend will kick off a new project from London-based artist Robert Montgomery (featured) on the streets of Los Angeles. Presented by Art Share L.A., the poetic text-based work from Montgomery will be featured on billboards around the City of Angels as well as seen at a gala put on in his honor on June 29th (details & tickets here). Also in association with his visit here, a panel discussion on June 30 (7pm) with MOCAtv and Montgomery will take place on the ACE Hotel Rooftop (details here). […]

Later this month, Jeff Koons will be unveiling a retrospective at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art and there are plenty of events to coincide with this key exhibition. This Thursday night (June 19th), Arcadia Contemporary in New York will be hosting the opening for Michael Carson’s new exhibition. For his first solo with the gallery, the Phoenix-based painter drew references for his chic women and impeccably dressed men by his observations of people on the streets. This love for fashion is evident in Carson’s work as well as the use of repeated patterns and motifs that add another layer of complexity to his work.
