Openings: Matthew Palladino – “Sweet Relief” @ Eli Ridgway Gallery

Saturday afternoon in San Francisco, Eli Ridgway Gallery opened its doors to Matthew Palladino’s latest solo show entitled Sweet Relief (previewed). Palladino brought his usual color palette and thought-provoking narrative (often using using common objects & repetition), expanding it into a three-dimensional form by creating painted relief sculptures utilizing re-purposed chocolate molds. Clare Rojas – “Piecemeal” @ Gallery Paule Anglim

The Gallery Paule Anglim in San Francisco recently had the pleasure of hosting a series of new works from Clare Rojas. For this showing entitled Piecemeal, it was apparent that the Bay Area – based artist was continuing to explore abstraction in her oeuvre of which she mixed in with paintings featuring her more obviously folk-art inspired signature look. AM was at Tate Modern on Tuesday to visit the major retrospective by Yayoi Kusama, whose separate show at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art we recently covered. The London exhibition is spread over fourteen rooms and features a selection of works — drawing, painting, collage, film, sculpture and installation — spanning a period of six decades. Opening tonight in New York is a special group show put together by the Museum of Sex.
