An artist we recently fell in love with at the Culver City Artwalk, Thomas Doyle, was commissioned by the New York Times Magazine to create a sculpture for their “Infrastructure” issue. This issue, which hits newsstands today, focuses on architecture, a perfect fit for half of what Doyle does so well – create small scale replicas of different structures and buildings placed in terrariums. Coachella-based artist duo the Date Farmers collaborated with the N.A.S.A (North America South America) project on a music video that premiered earlier this week. Entitled “A Volta,” the video featuring Sizzla, Amanda Blank, Love Foxxx definitely had the Mexican-American vibe going with the Date Farmer’s iconic robots creating havoc.Â Check out the behind the scenes details at Boing Boing. Vernissage TV caught up with Pharrell Williams and interviewed him about the collaboration piece he did withÂ Takashi Murakami andÂ Jacob the Jeweler at Art Basel (Switzerland). Gems of this interview include where he says “bling, I do not wear,” how he was reluctant to call himself an artist, and his love for cupcakes (really, are they THAT good?).Â Not sure we would have chosen the same “…simple things” he did, but we loved the sculpture. AM headed over to Roberts & Tilton in Culver City today to check out the installation in progress of San Francisco based Andrew Schoultz’s new work. The show will run until August 1st with an opening receptionÂ Saturday, June 13, from 6-8 pm. The work is an impressive extension of his figurative yet abstract fantasy land full of fire, rain and horses.
