Teaser: Audrey Kawasaki @ Space Yui (Japan)

Here is a taste of what Audrey Kawasaki has been working on for her upcoming show at Space Yui in Tokyo opening on May 7th. She says on her blog that there will be about 10 paintings and drawings for the show. Looks like she’s continuing with the laser cutouts that we first saw at her “Drawing Room” show. Japan’s Mizuma gallery made quite a splash at this year’s Armory, selling out most of the art they imported from the land of the rising sun. As usual, their booth was filled with some of Japan’s notables: Akino Kondoh, Sashie Masakatsu, Makoto Aida, Aoyama Satoru, andÂ Tanada Koji to name a few. Yesterday afternoon, one of our favorite contemporary pop artists, Ron English, along with west coast artists Bigfoot and Jason Maloney, injected a little extra life into downtown Jersey City. They blessed Hudson County Art Supplyâ€™s exterior wall in Jersey City, NJ with a huge, colorful, and collaborative mural. Â It was a gorgeous day for painting.
