For his upcoming show “Mythographic Vicissitudes,” Ron English created a series of paintings based on his interpretations of modern mythologies. Once again, Ron displays his versatility as this body of work features photorealistic painting, expressionism, drawings, a little of everything. He covers many topics, from bigfoot to UFOs to Jesus. Continuing with our coverage of Basel Week Miami, AMÂ wanted to highlight another tantalizing find from the Scope/Art Asia fair: Wang Zhi Jie Wang Zhi Jie is a contemporary artist from China that wields a skillful brush and conjures up some very sexy and appealing imagery. He specializes in drawing “innocent girls” conducting what are perceived to be provocative actions. Openings: Yoshitomo Nara @ Blum & Poe

Last night marked the opening of Yoshitomo Nara’s solo show at Blum & Poe (previewed and teased). The show features a large scale sculptural installation, and a new series of paintings and drawings focusing on Nara’s signature pastel-hued girls. At the center of the exhibition was a prairie-style wagon installation by YNG, a collaboration between Yoshitomo Nara and Japanese design firm Graf.
