On April 7th, the fifth edition of the moleskin group show will be opening at Spoke Art in San Francisco. Moleskin V is curated by gallery owner Ken Harman and Sydney-based artist Rod Luff and features artworks created directly onto the ubiquitous moleskin sketchbooks that are commonly used by artists around the world. Releases: James Jean – “Pomegranate” Print

James Jean (interviewed) recently released woodblock print that he created at the Adachi Institute in Tokyo. The limited edition (run of 50) features a young woman using the red color dripping from a pomegranate as makeup, a beautiful example of the Japan-based artist’s artistic vision and craftsmanship. On Saturday night (April 2nd), Arcadia Contemporary will be opening their inaugural exhibition at its new home in Santa Monica’s Bergamot Station Arts Complex after 16 years in New York. The group show entitled Made in California will feature work from their artists that reside in the “Golden State” including John Brosio (seen above), Michael Chapman, Jeremy Lipking, Julio Reyes, John Wentz, Aron Wiesenfeld, and Vincent Xeus.

From 11th of March until 16th of April, BQ gallery in Berlin will be showing a solo exhibition by David Shrigley. Song For The Rat includes a series of signature drawings, as well as a single neon work, similar to the ones he did before for his two prior shows with the gallery. Less than one year after their debut show SWIM 1 (covered), curators Yarrow Slaps from San Francisco and Auguste Somers of Los Angeles opened the next edition of their successful group show on March 18th. Between Here and Now features eight original hyperrealist works and a video installation showing examples of his Under the Unminding Sky or “windshield paintings” series that he’s been working on for the last decade or so. Currently in Beers London, new paintings collectively entitled Turning The Tide from Jenny Morgan are on view through April 23rd. Coming up on April 9th, Kelsey Brookes will be opening a new show in Malibu, California at Compound Project. The exhibition will feature a new series of works that feature his psychedelic abstract patterns and interest in scientific matters. Created in proportion to the growth of the Fibonacci sequence onto a surface shaped in proportion to the golden ratio, the new paintings look to take things to the next level.
