It appears that the preparations for Lazarides’ group show “Grifters” is already in full swing (teased). Preview: David Choe – “Grifters” Group Show @ Lazarides (Rathbone Place)

As we mentioned in our teaser, “Grifters” will be rolling into town early next month at Rathbone Place. However, it looks like David Choe is already in London getting ready for the super-group show at Lazarides as well as wreaking havoc on the streets. This year’s Giant Robot Biennale opened last Saturday night at the Japanese American National Museum. Releases: David Choe – “Choegal Siamese Twin”

Next week, David Choe will be dropping the latest and arguably the illest version of his “Choegal” art figure, this time re-versioned as a Siamese twin. The hand-painted figures, total edition size of 500, cost $65 and will be available through Ningyoushi and DoublePunch. A look at the other side of the face and the packaging after the jump.

Openings: Todd Schorr – “American Surreal” @ San Jose Museum of Art

This past Thursday, AM took a trip down to the San Jose Museum of Art to visit Todd Schorr (interview & studio visit) and check out “Surreal Night,” a celebration of his 25 year retrospective currently on display. While there, we were able to attend the panel discussion, meet Todd, pick up a copy of his latest book, American Surreal and take some pictures of his major retrospective exhibition. Releases: David Choe – “Jimi Hendrix” Print

What’s with all the great limited edition releases recently? Here is David Choe holding up an epic print (his largest ever) of his Jimi Hendrix painting. Limited to 27 (also Hendrix’s age at death) and sized at 44″ x 51 5/8″, the print was priced at $600. Unfortunately, it already sold out before Choe even got the post up on his blog.

Openings: “Get Rich Quick!” Group Exhibition @ Carmichael Gallery

Last night, the Carmichael Gallery in Hollywood pulled no punches with their all-star show, “Get Rich Quick!,” showcasing the strongest talents in the street and urban art genre. Some scorching hot pieces lined the gallery’s walls for the exhibition, including: a rare Banksy canvas, a KAWS ad disruption, boxes and screen-printed collages from Faile, to originals by Barry McGee and Micallef and much more.
