Streets: Escif (Russia)

Prolific muralist Escif recently visited Russia where he created several simple but striking public pieces. Known for his open commentary on the modern world (especially on the topics of politics and the economy), the Spanish street artist found it an extra challenge this time to create works in such a sensitive environment. Originally invited by the The best city on the Earth festival in Moscow, the artist was straight away confronted with the way things work when his original sketch for the mural was rejected. In […]

Streets: Escif (Denmark)

After bringing you photos of the work Brad Downey and Sam3 put in for the Public Art project (co-curated by Henrik Haven) in Horsens, Denmark, we now want to share with you what Escif painted for the event. The Spanish muralist created three pieces – How to survive Horsens (the large wall seen above with characters practicing self-defense, a nod to the town’s bad reputation which is slowly improving with its strong focus on art & culture), Baruck Pizza (a clever piece that mimics the pizza restaurant right next […]

Take a further look at the sweet details below… Discuss Escif here.

Streets: Escif (Valencia)

Spanish muralist and street artist, Escif, was very active in his hometown of Valencia in Spain the last couple of months. Famous for his clever, direct and punchy commentaries on modern society, capitalism, consumerism, economy and politics (especially current situation in Spain and European Union), the artist shared couple of his recent street works online via StreetAgainst.com. Focused on wide range of different subjects, the pieces are all showcased with his signature, recognizable style – a simple, almost innocent looking image that is hiding a […]

Merry Christmas from Escif

One of the most prolific street artists out there, Escif, apparently hasn’t taken Christmas off. He’s been on a roll as of late with increasingly more edgy and political imagery (for example here & here), not surprising as the depressing situation in Spain is fertile ground for inspiration. This recent wall in Valencia features his take on the Christmas tree. Discuss Escif here.
