The location is on 23rd Street and 12th Ave in Chelsea, just a short walk from the Joshua Liner Gallery which recently curated a show with Ellis and Kris Kuksi in Los Angeles. Leading off last week’s Streets: World Roundup is this amazing mural (seen above) painted over the course of a year by Josef Kristofoletti. The project was commissioned by the ATLAS Experiment at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research and was painted on the side of the ATLAS control room directly above the detector, near the Swiss-French border outside of Geneva by the Texas-based artist. It depicts the artist’s interpretation of what the Higgs boson might look like. For those interested, Kristofoletti also sent us a link […]
This week’s featured video (via TWBE) for Rewind is an interview with Alex Prager by Fourth & Main. It looks like Escif was caught up with the Euro 2012 fever that had his home country in its grip as he painted this piece entitled The Rescue leading up to the final. After Spain was crowned the UEFA champion, the street artist turned his attention to more serious topics with a mural (seen below) dealing with the cuts the country has had implement as it becomes increasingly mired in the financial crisis of Europe. Discuss Escif here.

Spanish street artist Escif was recently invited to Gaeta, Italy for the Memorie Urbane Festival where painted a mural entitled Angolo Di Riflessione or Angle of Reflection. The image may look familiar because just up the coast at Isola del Giglio in Tuscany, the Costa Concordia partially sank taking the lives of 32 passengers and crew, an incident which was tainted by the controversial actions of the captain. Other artists slated to work on walls include Agostino Iacurci, Sten + Lex, Teresa Orazio, and Anteprima […]
Last weekend in Norway, the inaugural show at Reed Projects Gallery, The Rejects, opened featuring work from Vhils, Roa, Escif, Dolk, Evol, Dan Witz and Brad Downey. The new showspace is the brainchild of the same people behind the annual Nuart Festival in Stavenger and presumably will now become the indoor gallery of those artists involved. Take a look at more photos from the opening below… Photo credit: Erik Sæter Jørgensen.

Last week, we shared some photos of Olek as she returned to her hometown for the Katowice Street Art Festival where she yarnbombed excavators. She wasn’t the only street artist to hit up the Polish city because a steady stream of urban beautifiers have put up work of their own including Mark Jenkins (interviewed) with a attention grabbing tug-of-war installation and Escif with a huge on-off switch. If you remember, we also included the piece by Ludo (interviewed) earlier this week in our Streets: World Roundup. Take a look […]
