Streets: Escif (Madrid)

Spanish artist Escif recently completely a mural in Madrid with an interesting concept and backstory. He wanted to paint something outside of the residential building that showed what was actually inside the building inspired by the familiar phrase “we are what we eat.” The result was a piece that mimicked the wall paper inside as well as portrayed some of the people that lived there. Releases: Escif – “Elsewhere” Book

After a couple of months in the making, Escif just launched an Indiegogo campaign, raising funds for his upcoming book release. Elsewhere is a hardcover book that is set to be released in February 2015, in an edition of 1000 pieces, each hand-finished and signed. The book will be focused on his last five years – from mandatory murals and interventions around the world, to sketches, drawings, ideas, feelings, recipes, deep secrets and everyday life thoughts. The city of Charleroi in Belgium was the host for the first edition of the Asphalte Urban Art Biennial. Taking place from the beginning of May till the end of October, this event includes theatrical programming, dance and academic programs, concerts, as well as urban and street art projects. Spanish artist Escif recently did a whole series of new street murals titled Fast Food Is Not a Crime on the streets of his hometown, Valencia. Known for his simple imagery, and use of colors that blend with the surroundings, these 4 pieces show the most recognizable fast food meals out there – hamburgers, hot-dogs, fries and pizza.
