This Saturday night in Tucson, Arizona, Baker + Hesseldenz Design will be opening their 1st Annual Spring Group Exhibition. Featuring a respectable roster of familiar names as well as some new ones, the show includes work from Van Arno, Fabio d’Aroma, Mark Elliot, Frank Forte, Naoto Hattori, Fay Helfer, Michael Hussar, Hanna Jaeun, Tracy Lewis, Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, Roland Tamayo, Kristin Tercek, Helice Wen, and Yoskay Yamamoto (seen above).      

Streets: El Mac “Ánimo Sin Fronteras” (El Paso)

Right after finishing his mural in Ciudad Juarez (covered), El Mac crossed over to El Paso and painted another striking portrait piece. Like the Juarense y Poderosa, Ánimo Sin Fronteras is also a homage to people from the US/Mex border region that suffered or lost someone to violence, corruption and injustice in the last near-decade. Jen Stark For Facebook Artist in Residence Program

Continuing to go big with her art, Jen Stark recently completed an installation for the new Facebook building in the Bay Area. With a team of assistants by her side, the Los Angeles-based artist left here colorful make on the inside of the Gehry building for the Facebook Artist in Residence program. The multi-layered psychedelic colors seem to drip down from the edges of the indoor structure mirroring the imagery seen in her gallery work. More photos below… Discuss Jen Stark here.

Openings: Vhils – “Dissonance’ @ Lazarides (London)

After showing at Lisbon’s Electricity Museum / EDP Foundation (covered) and in Paris (covered) over the last year, multidisciplinary Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto aka Vhils returned to London for a new solo entitled Dissonance at Lazarides Rathbone. Running until April 23rd, the exhibition reflects on how various factors in the contemporary urbanized world shapes its inhabitants, while personal identities are vanishing under the visual noise and surrounding clutter. Reflecting this, the subjects being portrayed in the pieces disappear through multiple layering of billboards and stratification on metal and wood. Check out images from the opening below. Upcoming: “One Page” @ Roq La Rue

Coinciding with Emerald City Comicon, Roq La Rue will hosting the opening of One Page tonight, March 27th. For four days only, on display will be contributions from artists based on a unique concept of producing a one page comic with a short story.
