Openings: D*Face – “Scars & Stripes” (Los Angeles)

Over the weekend, AM headed out to Los Angeles to check out a solo from D*Face (interviewed) at a popup location in West Hollywood (315 S. Robertson Blvd). Streets: Dalek x Instagram (New York)

The geometrically inclined James “Dalek” Marshall (interviewed) recently travelled from his home in North Carolina to paint Instagram’s first ever sponsored public art at the Brooklyn Bridge Park. Working on a double decker container, he covered it in his signature combination of lines, shapes, and colors creating a striking mural that stood out against the New York skyline in the background. Currently showing in London at Victorio Miro, Pumpkins from Yayoi Kusuma is an exhibition that features one of her most famous motifs. The celebration of the fruit in question was approached from different angles by Kusama, utilizing her various skill sets – paintings, large mosaic sculptures inside the gallery, and bronzes in the water garden.
