Eighteen Gallery in Copenhagen just opened Interior, their first solo show with Todd James, featuring new paintings depicting vibrant indoor spaces. The 30th anniversary edition of the London Art Fair opened to the public on Wednesday with 131 exhibitors participating. On view thru this Saturday at Hosfelt Gallery in San Francisco is Illuminated Opposition, a new solo exhibition from Andrew Schoultz. The transformative showing from the Los Angeles-based artist continues his socio-political commentary with a series of paintings set among an immersive installation of wall murals and sculptural pieces. Over the weekend, Heron Arts in San Francisco hosted the afterparty for the UNTITLED Art Fair featuring the artwork of Hush (interviewed). With his largest installation to date, the British artist filled the space with his geishas, graffiti inspired patterns, and his east meets west aesthetic. Rounding out the evening was a musical performance from legendary San Francisco turntablist DJ QBert and Egyptian Lover with supporting sets from Romanowski and Smokes. Today in London, Lazinc new flagship gallery in Mayfair opened their doors with an exhibition from JR (interviewed) entitled Giants. Earlier this month, Cai Guo-Qiang launched one of his explosive new works in Chicago that he entitled Color Mushroom Cloud. With Christmas soon approaching, now would be a good time to tell you about a project from Dabs Myla that opened recently in Los Angeles. With the support of LeBasse Projects, the Australian duo created a series of installations at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Covering three blocks of the popular shopping & dining thoroughfare with holiday themed imagery, the two artists were able to give visitors perfect photo opportunities to remember this festive season. The National Gallery of Victoria recently commissioned Ron Mueck to create an installation for their permanent collection, his most ambitious project to date. Entitled Mass, the work which debuted at the inaugural NGV Triennial, features 100 fibreglass and resin skulls, each one measuring about a meter high. As one of the most gifted living Australian sculptors, Mueck almost exclusively creates smaller or larger than life-size pieces.
