Streets: ROA (Stockholm)

In contrast to the tropical weather AM is experiencing here in Hawaii for POW WOW, it looks like Stockholm is still experiencing a cold front. As you must know by now after reading our preview article, ROA was in Sweden for a solo show recently (more on this later). While there, the Belgium street muralist braved the snow to put up this seal piece for his fans to enjoy. More photos after the jump…

POW WOW ‘ 12 / Streets: 123Klan x Slick x Flying Fortress

Across from Loft In Space, the neighboring wall was attacked by 123Klan, Slick, and Flying Fortress for some of the outdoor portion go POW WOW. Almost completed, the piece features elements specific to Hawaii like their love for shaved ice, volcanoes, and orchids to more serious topics like how Dole Pineapple has affected the indigenous people. An interesting juxtaposition of old masters like imagery and modern text abbreviation – this series of paintings from Shawn Huckins is our Art Focus for the week. Pow Wow ’12 – Kickoff

AM is in Hawaii and it’s the officially the first day of Pow Wow 2012. Similar to last year, we started the day on the North Shore and moved to Honolulu where artists and media took their first steps to getting the Loft in Space location ready for the big exhibition this Saturday. Keeping up with yet another mural going up across the streets of Los Angeles, we caught up with MSK/AWR graffiti writer RIME as he was putting up his signature character design in the arts complex overseen by Warren Brand. This week’s featured wall for our street art roundup from around the world is a sweet collaborative piece between Austrian artist Nychos and the German-based old school legend Flying Fortress.
