Interviews: Kris Lewis

We recently had the chance to have a brief chat with Kris Lewis regarding his recent show at David B. Smith Gallery. Topics included themes in his works, his influences and inspirations, and the use of symbolism. We were also tipped off about the soon release of one of the paintings “White Flag” from the show as a print (seen after the jump).

UK based artist Von, or HelloVon as he has come to be known, is opening his show “Semblance” (previewed) at Cerasoli Gallery. The show has been on display since last weekend but the opening reception is this Saturday, September 19th at the Culver City gallery. We sat down with him to talk about his beautiful paintings which incorporate abstract and realistic elements at the same time lending to a dream-like, ethereal feel to this body of work. Last week, AM had the opportunity to drop by Eric White’s Brooklyn studio, and got a sneak peak of his space and some of the work for his upcoming exhibit “LP,” opening at Sloan Fine Art Sept. 12. As the title implies, the show will consist of White’s interpretations of classic album coversâ€”more specifically, those from before 1983, the year when he got his first CD player. Streets: Blu in Milan

Looks like Italian street artist Blu has struck again, this time in Milan. It was only just recently that we saw him working in Grottaglie (here, here, and here) on his part for the FAME Festival this year. He apparently also had time to get this huge mural up giving bicylists a little chance for payback as you see them crush cars in their path. More images after the jump.

No official word from the Banksy camp yet, but some signs point to a new stencil from Mr. B up near the A40 (looks to be on top of the Great Western Studios building) featuring a Zorro figure holding a roller and the words “Live Fast Drive Slow” on the other side of the building.
