Berlin based artist BLO, from the Da Mental Vaporz crew, is currently showing a new exhibition entitled Anywhere, Out Of This Mind at Galerie 42b in Paris. We asked him a few questions to find out more. AM: How long have you been preparing for this show? BLO: After a year experimenting with abstraction, and following my artistic residency in Perpignan (FR) in November/December 2017, I decided to return my focus to figurative painting while exploring fragmented compositions. So, I have been preparing for my current show […]

Recently, Augustine Kofie (featured) teamed up with AiseBorn to paint an outstanding new mural at the former Rendon Hotel in Los Angeles. The harmonious joint effort on the 7th Street facade between the two locally-based artists was aided by the common elements that can be seen in their work like geometrical patterns, architectural influences, and a background in graffiti. This collaborative wall was commissioned as part of the Art at the Rendon // Hidden Rooms event opening next weekend, the first of a series of ongoing cultural programs hosted […]

It looks like while he was in town for the BEYOND THE STREETS exhibition (covered), Invader added to his prolific body of work on the streets of Los Angeles that stretches back over a decade. For what he calls the 9th wave of invasion of the LA, the French artist got up 29 new mosaics throughout the city including a sweet piece featuring The Dude placed perfectly outside a building that has a bowling alley. Spending a week together in Berlin, Telmo Miel and James Bullough worked on a stunning new piece (located Bernburger Straße 35) that blends the work of the street artists together perfectly. Painting the large wall for the Berlin Mural Fest with the “Unity” concept proposed by Urban Nation in mind, the Dutch duo mixed their patchy & segmented imagery with the locally-based Bullough’s glitchy portraiture in a way the matches their styles up amazingly well. Recently in the Netherlands, Leon Keer created five street pieces in memory of M.C. Escher in the city of his birth – Leeuwarden. Painted in the anormorphic style that he has become known for, the Dutch artist thrilled the crowds who gathered to watch his work and provided perfect photo ops for the art lovers. Keer’s chosen source of inspiration was a perfect fit for his mind-bending 3D works with Escher also known for impossible objects and plays on perspective. These works were produced with […]

Following up our previous coverage of the RAD Napa project (curated by Thinkspace and sponsored by The Napa Valley Wine Train), we now have photos from something Mars-1 (featured) painted recently. Creating a mural from his Infinite Tapestry series next to the railroad tracks, the Bay Area-based artist wove multiple globes of his bubbles together on the two part wall. The organic forms really pop against the stark black background, especially when viewed from the train. Photo & video credit: Birdman Photos. Discuss Mars-1 here.
While in town for his showing (more on this later) at Weinstein Gallery, legendary street artist Blek Le Rat spent some time working some of his stencil magic in San Francisco. Hitting several locations including the Hastings College of Law, the French artist was able make his mark on the area including conjuring up appearances of his famous rat. Take a look at some photos documenting his time on the streets below… Photo credit: Birdman Photos. Discuss Blek Le Rat here.
