Streets: The Crystal Ship Festival (Belgium) – Part I

On the 1st of April, the second edition of The Crystal Ship Festival officially started in the Belgian coastal city of Oostende. The launch of the event was marked with the arrival of the six meters tall Inflatable Refugee sculpture by Belgian art collective Schellekens & Peleman (seen above).  This striking piece balancing on the border of public art, dadaism and interventionism, has travelled around Europe, from Denmark to Venice. Previews: “Psychological Realism” @ Booth Gallery

The first exhibition of the 2017 for Booth Gallery will be a group exhibition entitled Psychological Realism. Opening tomorrow night (January 21st), the show will explore the intricacies of identity through the eyes of Sergio Barrale, Daniel Bilodeau, Rune Christensen, Jesse Draxler, Erik Jones, Maria Kreyn, Adam Miller, Jean-Paul Mallozzi, David McLeod, Henrik Uldalen, and Jonathan Viner. Seen above is a something from McLeod as he ups the ante on his paint on glass works by utilizing multiple overlapping planes of glass.

Releases: Nuart Festival 2016 Box Set

In collaboration with Nuart Gallery (former Reed Projects), Nuart Festival has released an exclusive series of signed limited edition prints to support this year’s event. The box set consists of a total of 14 prints measuring 12” (30 x 30cm), one from each of this year’s participating artists. Each box set consists of 6 gicleé and 8 hand-pulled screen prints, giving a chance for collectors to own part of Nuart history while helping to fund the festival. Nuart ’16 / Openings: “Post-Street Art” @ Tou Scene

After days of preparation, the central event of each year’s Nuart Festival was held on Saturday, the 10th of September. On view was a group show by participating artists titled Post-Street Art was in the tunnels of Tou Scene. Like in the past, the space of the former brewery was divided between the artists, some sharing the rooms with collaborative installations and some showing works by themselves.
