Showing / Installation: Best | Ever “The Delicacy of Passion” @ Studio55

UK artist duo Best | Ever recently brought a selection of their work to London for a showcase entitled “The Delicacy of Passion”. The exhibition served as a teaser for a full scale solo show planned for this Autumn. The team of Hadley Newman and Neil Edward have been working together for the last year and a half after both honing their skills individually as artists and graffiti writers. For this show they created a heavily decorated setting for the work, applying their spray-can realism […]

Video: Faile – “Temple” @ PortugalArte ’10 (Vernissage TV)

After sharing some photos of the impressive Faile (featured) installation with you recently, we now bring you some video footage from Vernissage TV. Seeing the “Temple” in the context of the surrounding architecture in Praça dos Restauradores, one of the major squares in the center of Lisbon, definitely gives us more of an appreciation of what the Patricks accomplished. Not only did they fully execute a temple in “ruins” with their signature imagery, the Brooklyn duo were able to create something that fit in perfectly […]

Preview: Viva La Revolucion @ MCASD

AM headed down to San Diego on Friday morning to catch the press preview of Viva La Revolucion at MCASD (check out our street coverage here). It was great to wander around the Jacobs Building and get a sneak peek of everything the artists have been working on indoors after seeing all the amazing pieces that have been popping up on the streets of the city. Pedro Alonzo, the exhibition’s curator, led a talk around the museum and spoke about the different artists and their work. Shepard Fairey, David Ellis, Stephan […]

Jeff Koons Installation @ Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital09

Jeff Koons and RxArt has teamed up to make the hospital a less intimidating space for young patients, hopefully helping to soothe fears and brighten moods. The world-renowned pop artist has transformed the usually sterile CT scan room with his familiar icons – including the Balloon Dog, Hanging Heart, and Monkeys. Known for being one of the most well-paid artists today, Koons generously provided the work with no artist fee. In addition, Kiehl’s also provided support for the project. Kudos to RxArt, Kiehl’s and Jeff […]

Video: Mike Stilkey x Hurley Timelapse

After seeing pictures of Mike Stilkey’s (interviewed) latest book installation coming together for his current solo show, “Reminiscent” at Hurley’s new )( Space Gallery in Costa Mesa, Ca. it left us wondering just how he puts such an installation together. When you begin to analyze the logistics of working with the spines of 5,000 books as your canvas, it got us to thinking just how the books are selected and assembled, and how this giant Jenga puzzle doesn’t fall over! All our questions are answered […]

However, this is his first showing in the Bluegrass state, and the latest in an exciting line of new contemporary exhibitions The Bldg have been bringing over the last year, following the UK’s Prefab77 and everyone’s favorite monochrome dynamic duo, The London Police. Haber’s folk art inspired […]

Openings: Barry McGee & Clare Rojas @ Bolinas Museum

This past Saturday marked the opening of Barry McGee and Clare Rojas’ exhibition “Leave It Alone” & “Together At Last” (respectively) at the Bolinas Museum. The quaint community in northern California landed a double-stack of works featuring both iconic artists. We last saw the dynamic duo showing together last spring at New Image Art and this time the latest exhibition was indeed museum-worthy. McGee created floor to ceiling installations showcasing everything from his trademark bottles to his diverse pattern paintings to surprising goodness such as […]
