The Bogota and Los Angeles-based Fabien Castanier Gallery used Basel Week Miami as an opportunity to show their roster of urban artists to the art-thirsty crowd in Wynwood with a popup exhibition. Displayed in two large spaces in the vibrant neighborhood, the exhibition also served as a teaser of what they will are planning for their upcoming Miami gallery location scheduled to open next year. Jan Kalab (interviewed) is continuing to present his unique works around the world. As we previously reported, BC Gallery in Berlin is currently hosting a solo by Jan Kalab (interviewed) which features a new series of round canvases and a large sculptural piece. On the 10th of December, BC Gallery in Berlin will be opening a solo show by Czech artist Jan Kalab (interviewed). On the 29th of June, Jan Kalab (featured) opened his ninth solo show at the Villa Pelle in Prague, showing pieces created exclusively for this event. After introducing his art at fairs worldwide, this was an opportunity to put his work on display in his homeland. The Czech artist uses a lot of geometry elements and pure, bright colors in creating his pieces, which often blur the distinction between art and design. Jan Kalab is a Czech artist that was one of the pioneers of graffiti in his homeland. As a founder of the DSK crew, his career stretched from Prague’s train yards to painting whole cars in NYC in 2000. Around that time, he developed an interest for 3D graffiti and eventually started sculpting huge abstracts letters.
