Jeff Koons Rabbit in Covent Garden (London)

Apparently, a 53-foot inflatable rabbit found shelter inside London’s Covent Garden for a little while. Courtesy of one of the biggest Pop artists working today, Jeff Koons, the familiar rabbit is part of the Tate Modern’s current exhibition “Pop Life: Art in a Material World.” It is a floating replica of a figure that was produced in stainless steel in 1986.Â That sculpture is currently on display at the Tate. Last week, Tate Modern opened the doors to a highly anticipated group show based on Andy Warhol’s famous quote: good business is the best art. An ensemble made up of the top names in the contemporary art scene such as Tracey Emin, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Martin Kippenberger, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Gavin Turk, Richard Prince, and Cosey Fanni Tutti are included in this “Pop Life” exhibition (teased) and many were on hand for the opening reception. A pretty major exhibition, “Pop Life,” is opening this week (October 1st) at the Tate Modern. The exhibition will take Andy Warhol’s famous quote “good business is the best art” as its slogan and re-examine how Warhol and legacy of “Pop Art” has influenced artists in the ways they harnass mass media to promote and create an image for themselves. What would you do if you had the money to get one of Jeff Koons’ famous “Diamond” sculptures? Where would youÂ place it to get the most out of your new found bling? While in the UK, AM made a special visit to the Serpentine Gallery to get an exclusive viewing of â€œPopeye Series, Jeff Koons first major exhibition in London. After our last visit in April, Channel 4 in the UK gives us another opportunity to see Jeff Koons’ studio with this new video. Jeff Koons/LACMA Train x Crane Project

When news came out about the $25 million sculpture that LACMA commissioned Jeff Koons to do, we were a little underwhelmed by the idea. A life-size replica of a locomotive dangling from a crane sounded impressive enough but what does it all mean? After watching the Koons studio visit video last week, we realized that the train was going to be motorized (check the 1:04 mark) which makes it a little more interesting but we’re not sure if it’s the best use of $25 million.
