Following up on The New Vanguard show back in 2016 (covered), the Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH), again in collaboration with Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Gallery, will be opening the second iteration of the group exhibition on October 20th. For the fourth edition of Murals In The Market, anamorphic street artist Leon Keer recently finished a piece entitled Urban Colonization. POW! WOW! Long Beach finished up the public art for 2018 at the end of last month with another series of great murals and installations for fans of art in the Southern California city. Tomorrow (June 30th), Vitality and Verve III will open to the public (private gala tonight) at the Long Beach Museum of Art, presented in curatorial collaboration with Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Projects and the support of POW! WOW! Long Beach. The third iteration of the group exhibition highlighting artists from the “New Contemporary Art Movement” features an excellent roster including Sergio Garcia and Saber who collaborated on a cool installation featuring Garcia’s sculpture of Saber’s hand in mid spray with the graffiti artist providing his tag. Recently in the Netherlands, Leon Keer created five street pieces in memory of M.C. Escher in the city of his birth – Leeuwarden. Earlier his month, Leon Keer contributed another one of his signature anamorphic street paintings to the ONO’U street art festival in Tahiti. Painted at the lookout of the Gare Maritime Ferry Terminal in Papeete, the piece features a parade of robots ready to explore the beautiful island after exiting their cruise ship. As you can see, his three-dimensional skills are quite impressive, creating an optical illusion that the island residents would not soon forget. Street painting expert Leon Keer recently created a new piece in Dresden, Germany for the upcoming Magic City street exhibition. The Dutch artist is known for his anamorphic paintings on the ground that deceive the eye, with this latest piece being no different. Entitled Across the Border and painted in front of Scheune Dresden, it tells a story of hope and tolerance and is inspired by the famous Dresden Meissen porcelain figures. Discuss Leon Keer here.
