Currently showing through April 5th at the Skarstedt Gallery is a new solo featuring Ink Drawings from George Condo. I thought […]

Coming up in early April, The Outsiders London will be presenting their first solo exhibition with painter Chloe Early (interviewed). Showing: Phlegm – “The Bestiary” @ Howard Griffin Gallery

British artist Phlegm opened his first ever gallery show at Howard Griffin Gallery in Shoreditch on Saturday, the first of February. The Bestiary is entirely a non-commercial exhibition meaning the entire installation was created for the purpose of showing in this space only. The Sheffield-based artist has been working long days since mid December, building the installation, cutting up panels, and creating plaster sculptures that were later painted over in his recognizable style. With his impeccable feel for light and shadow, and  his meticulous, almost obsessive line work, these 3D creations […]

Interviews: Sage Vaughn – ‘Nobody’s Home’ @ Lazarides

LA based Sage Vaughn makes a welcome return to the UK for his new solo exhibition Nobody’s Home this week at Lazarides Gallery. His ability to present beauty and brutality, cleverly intertwined within the same image, has always resonated with us. A couple of weeks ago, Sage interviewed Bill McRight for AM in anticipation of his solo exhibition Willing to Lose at Breeze Block Gallery in Portland. This time around Bill has repaid the favour and turned the questions on Sage. Read on as the pair […]

With installations and murals planned as well as few surprises, this show is a must-see for those in the area. Discuss Phlegm here.

Openings: Saber – “The Ugly American” @ The Outsiders (London)

After Newcastle, LA-based graffiti artist SABER (interviewed) launched the second installment of his first European solo show The Ugly American at The Outsiders in London. Suffering from epilepsy and being denied healthcare, the politically engaged artist decided to voice some issues and battles for universal care by attacking and transforming iconic images of US and Union Jack flags, using found packing crates. Saber’s abstract paintings, made with layered collages and painted paper, combine harmoniously to form a delicate texture with his strong and powerful sharp signature lines. The show runs until mid February. […]

Showing: Candice Tripp & Wes Walker – “I’M NEVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN!” @ Black Rat Projects

On view earlier this month at the Black Rat Projects in London was an interesting collaborative show from Candice Tripp (interviewed) and Giles Walker (known for his immersive robotic installations). IʼM NEVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN included the surreal, dark paintings & sculptural pieces from Tripp as well as some animatronic magic from Walker. The exhibition was hard to capture with photos (although there are some for you to peruse below) so we have included a video to give you a better idea of what went down. Photo credit: Natasa Leoni. Discuss Candice Tripp here.

Showing: Urs Fischer – “Melodrama” @ Sadie Coles HQ

Currently at the 62 Kingly Street location of Sadie Coles HQ in London, the show Melodrama features an indoor downpouring of oversized plaster raindrops by Urs Fischer. The installation on display mirrors some of the Swiss-born artist’s recent exhibition at the MOCA in Los Angeles, where he also invited his fans to participate in building some of the sculptural work. The indoor storm is suspended over nude headless reclining figures which represent “an earthbound world of disorderly, golem-like forms in contrast with the symphony of […]

Structures: Alex Chinneck – “Minor On The Moon” (London)

After a creative redesign of a building several months ago in London where the facade appeared to be sliding off, Alex Chinneck has revealed his newest project. Minor On The Moon near Blackfriars Bridge in England’s capital turns things upside down with the remix of a 1780s livery stable through which cattle used to be shuttled for river transport. The British artist explains – “I wanted to create an artwork that offered spectacle, but was simultaneously subtle and by using the material and architectural language of the district the […]
