Coming up in early April, The Outsiders London will be presenting their first solo exhibition with painter Chloe Early (interviewed). Entitled Suspended, the show will feature the Irish-born, London-based artist’s mid air floating figures, inspired partly by Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s infamous mid-1700s sculpture, The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa, which combined both spiritual and sexual euphoria. British artist Phlegm opened his first ever gallery show at Howard Griffin Gallery in Shoreditch on Saturday, the first of February. The Bestiary is entirely a non-commercial exhibition meaning the entire installation was created for the purpose of showing in this space only. February 1st will be the public opening for Phlegm’s newest solo show to be held at the Howard Griffin Gallery in London. Entitled appropriately The Bestiary, the exhibition will be an illustrated compendium of strange creatures, often seen in the Sheffield-based street muralist’s imagery. After Newcastle, LA-based graffiti artist SABER (interviewed) launched the second installment of his first European solo show The Ugly American at The Outsiders in London. Suffering from epilepsy and being denied healthcare, the politically engaged artist decided to voice some issues and battles for universal care by attacking and transforming iconic images of US and Union Jack flags, using found packing crates. Saber’s abstract paintings, made with layered collages and painted paper, combine harmoniously to form a delicate texture with his strong and powerful sharp signature lines. For those in the UK that missed SABER’s (interviewed) show at The Outsiders in Newcastle (covered), tonight is the show has travelled to the London location of the gallery for an opening there. Ugly American features much of the imagery that we have come to enjoy from the Los Angeles-based graffiti artist as well as some special pieces for his fans in England. Discuss Saber here.

On view earlier this month at the Black Rat Projects in London was an interesting collaborative show from Candice Tripp (interviewed) and Giles Walker (known for his immersive robotic installations). IʼM NEVER SHOPPING HERE AGAIN included the surreal, dark paintings & sculptural pieces from Tripp as well as some animatronic magic from Walker. Currently at the 62 Kingly Street location of Sadie Coles HQ in London, the show Melodrama features an indoor downpouring of oversized plaster raindrops by Urs Fischer. The installation on display mirrors some of the Swiss-born artist’s recent exhibition at the MOCA in Los Angeles, where he also invited his fans to participate in building some of the sculptural work. After a creative redesign of a building several months ago in London where the facade appeared to be sliding off, Alex Chinneck has revealed his newest project.
