Showing: Adam Neate – “Dimensional Paintings” @ Elms Lester

Earlier this week, Elms Lesters hosted the opening for a set of new works collectively and aptly entitled Dimensional Paintings from the inventive Adam Neate (interviewed). While his landmark solo in 2009 at the same London gallery introduced his fans to the new textures and three-dimensional aspects of his new work, this latest exhibition shows a maturity, refinement, and comfort in the technique that is evident in the impressive depth and complexity of the pieces currently on view. Video: Dale Grimshaw – ‘Semi-Detached’ @ Signal Gallery

Check out this nicely put together video showing Dale Grimshaw getting busy with the work from his upcoming exhibition Semi-Detached opening this Thursday 6th October at Signal Gallery. Dale’s fourth solo show in London will see the artist unleash some of his personal demons, which are expressed in the metaphoric form of his violent father and the troubled upbringing Dale and his family experienced throughout his childhood. Expect some powerful, disturbing and very personal imagery in the form of oil paintings and woodblock prints. Sounds […]

Streets: London Instagram Roundup

Some great street art surprises have popped up around Shoreditch since the last AM London Instagram Roundup. Openings: LUDO – “Metamorphosis” @ High Roller Society

Much like his Zurich solo back in April, Metamorphosis (previewed) offered an strong selection of large graphite and oil drawings, focusing on his signature weaponized insects. Preferring to work on paper, these large scale works illustrate the French artist’s deft drawing abilities and provide reference to the massive paper wheatpastes he utilizes for his street work. The focal point of the […]

Streets: Phlegm (London)

As you saw in our London Instagram Roundup last week, Phlegm was in London recently and painted some of the walls of the Foundry Building on Old Street with his signature characters. It looks like the Sheffield-based street muralist hasn’t finished with Shoreditch yet as he recently added this airship piece at the Zetland House to the long list of fantastical vessels he’s painted in the past, although this time he’s taking to the skies instead of to the water. More photos from unusualimage after the […]
