Openings: Nosego – “Along Infinite River” @ Thinkspace Gallery

A couple weekends ago, Along Infinite River opened at the Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles, a testament to the hard work and imagination of Yis Goodwin. Otherwise known as Nosego, especially for his work on the streets, the Philadelphia-base artist unveiled a collection of new vibrant paintings that put his surreal hybrids of different creatures and landscapes on display. Along with these works, he also painted a wall mural for his fans to enjoy. Take a look at more photos below… Photo credit: Birdman Photos. Discuss Nosego […]

Streets: El Mac x Kofie (LA)

El Mac recently teamed up with his friend Augustine Kofie (featured) once again and to paint a new piece entitled Icarian Flight somewhere on the streets of LA. This is not the first time the two locally-based artists have collaborated, and with a good reason we must add after seeing this mural. The juxtaposition of El Mac’s distinctive soft portraiture against sharp and geo-based abstraction of Kofie creates a powerful mixture that brings out the best of both styles. On top of being different imagery wise, the transparent, aerosol-based […]

Upcoming: Eric Joyner @ Corey Helford Gallery

Fans of Eric Joyner (interviewed) will be pleased to hear that he will be having another solo in September at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles after his last one there in 2013 (covered). Hopefully, this new painting he is working on will be part of the new body of work as we are quite smitten by his robot police lineups and this newest one looks to be shaping up nicely. Of course, we will also be looking forward the Bay Area-based artist’s predilection for painting […]

Previews: Edwin Ushiro – “The Study of Life as Things” @ Giant Robot 2

This Saturday, July 18th, at Giant Robot 2 in Los Angeles, Edwin Ushiro (interviewed) will be unveiling new works for his latest solo entitled The Study of Life as Things. Most of the drawings are 8.5″ x 11″ and done with graphite, ink and ballpoint pens, tools the locally-based artist used during his intermediate school days. Making this choice draws Ushiro deeper into the nostalgia that is evident is his work, a look back at the memories from his days growing up on the islands of Hawaii. Discuss Edwin […]
