10 A.M. ART gallery is currently showing the first Italian show (June 4 – July 2) by 1010 as part of a wider cultural project. Along with displaying his new body of abstract works titled Serendipity, the project also includes a large mural painted on the gallery building at 31 Via Barrili, Milan. On the 30th of April, Blain|Southern in Berlin officially opened Harland Miller’s show Tonight We Make History (P.S. I Can’t Be There). As previously announced, his first solo in Germany included an all new body of work that incorporate his own designs, as well as a selection of the classic pieces from the infamous Penguin Books series. Last month Slow Culture moved from LA’s Highland Park to Chinatown, and on March 4th, they opened the PDFW: Performance. Drawing. Film. Writing. group show by THE DFW crew. On January 9th, Tauba Auerbach returned to Paula Cooper Gallery in New York for a brand new exhibition. Entitled Projective Instrument, the show plays off the 1915 treatise Projective Ornament by the American architect & theosopher Claude Bragdon in which the author outlines a system for drawing four-dimensional ornament on a two-dimensional plane. Building upon this century old thesis, Auerbach further empowers projective geometry and recasts the “Ornament” as “Instrument,” thereby rendering it an active tool rather than mere representation. Intricate, detailed, and elegant, Tahiti Pherson’s hand-cut monochromatic works on paper are currently on exhibition at Joseph Gross Gallery in NY’s Chelsea gallery district. Fans and admirers received a up-close and personal look at the fascinating pieces that the artist has made both in two and three-dimensions.
