As anticipated, the highly praised “Stages” exhibition made it’s US debut yesterday in a beautiful pop-up space hosted by Deitch Projects in New York’s Soho district. As we mentioned when the show debuted in Paris (covered), “Stages” is a traveling exhibition curated by Nike and Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong Foundation to elevate awareness of the fight against cancer with some of the art world’s most influential artists. Openings: Os Gemeos – “Vertigo” @ Brazilian Art Museum: Sao Paulo (MAB-FAAP)

The first time we caught Os Gemeos at a museum was at the CCBB of Rio de Janerio (covered). Then this summer, we hung with Octavio and Gustavo on the streets of Manhattan (here) as they created an awe-inspiring mural to share with the citizens of New York. With all the success they already had in 2009, it left us wondering what they would do next? Well, great artists often seem to build upon their successes and now the Brazilian twins have stepped their game up again with […]

NYT’s Art Critic Reviews Os Gemeos Mural

Earlier this week, the New York Times published a glowing review by esteemed art critic Roberta Smith of the recently completed mural by Os Gemeos (covered). Other than being mistaken about this being the twins’ first public artwork in Manhattan (first legal public artwork, perhaps), Smith gets everything else right, describing the stunning work in loving detail. It’s not everyday that the “Old Gray Lady” gives such accolades to street artists, so congrats to Os Gemeos. Well deserved. Discuss Os Gemeos here.

Os Gemeos – Montana Colors Redecoration

Looks like the Os Gemeos took time after hitting up New York with an epic mural to paint one of the bathrooms at the Montana Colors offices. If only we could hit the lotto and have the Brazilian twins get up in the AM offices as well. Via Montana Colors. Discuss Os Gemeos here.

Wrap Up: Os Gemeos Mural

When we first broke the news that Os Gemeos was doing the mural at the previous Keith Haring tribute location, we had also heard that it was going to take 11 days to finish the new project. After the 3rd day, the mural looked great and we thought it was going to be done that night. But day after day, we could see the twins from Sao Paulo working hard and building layer upon layer of detail into their labor of love. “So close, yet […]

Update/Video: Os Gemeos Mural in NYC

Last week, we brought you some images of the beginnings of an epic mural that the Brazilian brothers Os Gemeos were working on in NY.  Here is a video of how it looks at about midpoint. (Be sure to click on the the “HQ” button on the bottom right if you get an error message.  Most of the mural has fleshed out and now it appears they are just working on the details. Look for a final wrap-up later in the week when they finish […]

Streets: Os Gemeos Mural Replaces Keith Haring Tribute in NYC

People that have visited New York in the last year may remember seeing the Keith Haring day-glo mural recreated on the corner of Houston and Bowery in honor of the artist’s 50th birthday. Earlier this week, word circulated that the mural had been whited-out. But what was at first sad news has turned out to be good news. Guess which pair of street art twins (hint: They’re from Brazil) have stepped up and are already working this iconic spot? None other than Os Gemeos! Fresh […]
