Streets: Invader (Paris)

Last time we heard from Invader, he was in Hong Kong opening a massive show (covered) back in May of this year. Recently, the French artist has returned back to his home base of Paris to continue propagating his imagery on the streets. Taking from a diverse set of pop culture and video game imagery, he always delights his fans with new surprises like the Cheshire Cat (seen above) as well as some classic pieces. Takashi Murakami x Vans Vault Showcase @ Hotel Du Grand Veneur

Over the weekend Hotel Du Grand Veneur in Paris hosted a collaborative showcase between Takashi Murakami and Vans. Coinciding with this season’s Paris Fashion Week, the launch event featured shoes (adult and child), skate decks, surf boards, tees, and related artwork. as well as a roundtable conversation with the esteemed Japanese artist. Streets: 1010 (Paris)

After introducing you to the work of 1010 after a showing in San Francisco earlier this year, we now have some images from a new project from the German artist in Paris. Invited in by Galerie Itinerrance, the street artist known for painted multicolored optical illusions onto the side of buildings created the appearance of a chasm on a freeway interchange under construction in the 13th arrondissement. Previews: Know Hope – “Water Takes the Shape of its Container” @ OpenSpace

Showing: Nick Walker – ‘Vicious Beauty’ @ Galerie Brugier-Rigail

UK artist Nick Walker (interviewed) is currently showing a new body of work entitled Vicious Beauty at Galerie Brugier-Rigail in Paris. Running until April 4th, the British artist’s  first solo exhibition in the French capital features his signature Vandal character and little girls with balaclava in various situations as well as hints of new directions he will be further exploring. According to the photos and info we received from Paris, the opening of Julien Malland aka Seth Globepainter’s solo show Walking on a Dream at Itinerrance Gallery on March 20th was a huge success. Known in his homeland both as an artist but also as a TV host of the popular show Les Nouveaux Explorateurs (The New Explorers), the Paris-based artist has a huge following that wanted to witness his artwork in person especially since he doesn’t do gallery shows that often. Presently at Backslash in Paris (through March 28th) is a show entitled Current from Boris “Delta” Tellegen. The Dutch artist’s second exhibition with the gallery features a collection of work inspired by the movement and unbroken activity the current, whether it be electrical in nature or in the ocean. The geometrical and architecturally inclined pieces on display range from large assemblages to smaller pieces on paper, a good cross section of work from the artist whose roots lie in graffiti. Upcoming: Nick Walker – “Vicious Beauty” @ Galerie Brugier-Rigail

Set to land in Paris on March 19th, Nick Walker (interviewed) will be opening a solo show entitled Vicious Beauty at Galerie Brugier-Rigail. Street art fans in the City of Light are certainly no strangers to the work of the Bristol-based artist as the capital city is only a short trip across the Channel, making it easily accessible for the Vandal (examples here & here).
