London’s Folio Society recently released a new printing of William Golding’s classic novel “Lord of the Flies,” illustrated by uber-talented, Brooklyn-based artist/illustrator Sam Weber. Teaser: Aya Takano – “Reintegrating Worlds” @ Skarstedt Gallery

Another pretty big show is going down this week in New York at the Skarstedt Gallery. Japanese sensation Aya Takano will be opening her first solo show in NY on November 5th entitled “Reintegrating Worlds,” and you best believe AM will be eagerly on hand to take in her new body of work. We suggest you do the same as the Murakami protege will be bringing fifteen new paintings stateside for your enjoyment. Famous for her sometimes controversial “kawaii-erotic” aesthetic, Takano reinterprets traditional Japanese imagery […]

If you are anything like the guys at AM, then you love to read and collect art books… Street Art has been widely documented over the last 25 years, since Martha Cooper (interviewed) and Henry Chalfant’s (interviewed) now legendary “Subway Art” hit the shelves back in 1984. Publications: “The Rest Is Up To You”

In a way reminiscent of how some artists have collaborated with their kids in creating art (think Jeff Soto (interviewed) & daughter Shannon or Tim Biskup & daughter Tigerlily), there is a new book out entitled “The Rest Is Up To You.” We don’t know who Cohen Morano is, but his father sure hooked it up for the first-grader.  He sent some watercolors by the boy to a illustrious list of artists and had them collaborate with the resulting art becoming the basis of this […]

Preview: COMPLEX Magazine October/November Issue – Clipse x KAWS Cover

The ever productive KAWS has produced another sick magazine cover. He’s collaborated with the rap duo Clipse many times before (including designing their album art). This time, he puts them in his signature blister packaging with imagery in the background from a painting in his recent Honor Fraser show “The Long Way Home” (covered here and here). The magazine hits newsstands on Oct. 6, but COMPLEX was nice enough to show us the cover and behind-the-scenes video before then. More images after the jump.
