Drawing comparisons to his recent mural at the Pasadena Museum of California Art for the Street Cred exhibition (covered), RETNA (featured) lent his street calligraphy to an ambitious new project with Kenny Scharf and Shepard Fairey in Los Angeles. Retna has been keeping himself busy recently — among other things, by participating in the Art in the Streets exhibition at MOCA, Street Cred at the Pasadena Museum of California Art, and painting the tail of a business jet in Geneva for VistaJet. A notable artist missing from the Street Cred opening at the PMCA last weekend was street calligraphist RETNA (featured). All the more curious as he was arguably the most visible participant seeing that he painted the entire facade of the museum. Now we know why. He was in Geneva at EBACE2011 finally realizing the project we first told you about here by getting up on Global Express XRS for VistaJet. Via Known Gallery. Discuss RETNA here.

On May 14th, the Pasadena Museum of California Art opens their doors to Street Cred, an exhibition celebrating the art of graffiti, be it in it’s basic form or as a formative tool in the current career and work of fine artists. Last week, AM attended the much anticipated opening for Retna’s (featured) NYC stop of his Hallelujah World Tour (previewed). Made possible by the folks at Valmorbida and Feedback the star-studded event was attended by many NYC art, fashion and entertainment notables as it led off the Fashion Week festivities.
