Openings: RISK – “Old Habits Die Hard” @ Corey Helford Gallery

Over the weekend, the Corey Helford Gallery unveiled a new body of work from the LA-based graffiti artist RISK. The Culver City showspace had only recently curated a group exhibition including RISK that is currently showing in the UK (covered) and Old Habits Die Hard builds on the work from that show with further explorations into neon creations and sculptural pieces. Also present were some paintings produced over a backdrop of license plates as seen behind the artist above. Photo credit: Carlos Gonzalez for Arrested Motion. RISK Paints Santa Monica Home

You may remember last year September, we told you about Risk and Retna (featured) collaborating on painting a house in Santa Monica. That controversial project raised money and awareness for the Heal the Bay Foundation, but drew the wrath of neighbors and resulted some drama and threatened fines from city officials. This time, developer Adam Corlin has commissioned only RISK to cover a new property, minus the scaffolding, with his distinctive abstract style. Look for a more revealing look in May in conjunction with RISK’s upcoming solo show. Discuss Risk here.
