Back in the Dutch capital for his second solo exhibition with the gallery, Marcus Harvey officially opened Shipbuilding on November 26th at Alex Daniels – Reflex Amsterdam. Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery is currently showing the first major solo exhibition from British artist Gavin Turk since 2002. Who What When Where How and Why spans twenty-six years of the artist’s career throughout the six gallery spaces featuring over seventy works including new and previously unexhibited work drawn from Hirst’s extensive art collection. Streets: D*Face // The Unexpected 2016 (Fort Smith) – Part II

As a follow up to the Warpaint mural he painted for The Unexpected event in Fort Smith, Arkansas last month, D*Face (interviewed) added a companion installation at the east entrance to downtown. The creation of the five larger than life arrows from repurposed telephone poles was underwritten by the Choctaw Nation, with the Oklahoma-based tribe also giving the British artist some historical context as well as making sure the design of the arrows was authentic. Lat month, Studio Voltaire in London opened an exhibition from Jamian Juliano-Villani entitled The World’s Greatest Planet on Earth. For her first solo outside the United States at a public institution, the New York-based artist prepared a series of her painted collages featuring appropriated images, personal photographs, and reproductions of existing artworks, reinterpreted into surreal amalgamations with a touch of dark humor. Along with these paintings, some never before exhibited sculptural installations rounded out the show that will be on view until December 11th. Photos via Studio Voltaire. Last night, Jacob Lewis Gallery held the opening reception for their inaugural show with Hajime Sorayama. A few weeks after announcing his representation, the Chelsea-based gallery revealed his newest body of work featuring his signature Sexy Robots. The 10 new acrylic paintings and one sculpture were created around the idea of re-inventing American icons. Starting on October 28th at Jacob Lewis Gallery, the surreal robotic works of Hajime Sorayama will grace the walls of the New York showspace and will open for public consumption.
